Pose Running

I covered Pose Running briefly in a previous post, and introduced Dr. Nicholas Romanov, the developer of Pose.  The videos I linked above are previews of an excellent teaching series provided by the CrossFit Journal on Pose Running (click here to see all the Journal offers on Pose). Drake and I subscribe to the CrossFit Journal and I highly recommend doing the same – content is invaluable if you are looking to develop as an athlete, and new content is provided multiple times on a weekly basis – well worth the investment.

Now I only run in Pose. I was sold as soon as I found that it keeps my plantar fasciitis away. I wish I could get a training session with The Pose Doctor (it would need to be a 9 or 10-part series to give him enough time to begin to improve my form). Pre-pose, I was sleeping with a special sock which kept my foot in constant flexion, and still had to perform trigger point therapy when my mileage crept up too high. I haven’t competed in a long time, so can’t tell you if there’s any improvement in my speed (stay tuned: after Drake buys me these shoes, I will no longer have an excuse not to COMPLETELY DOMINATE). Any of you have experience with Pose you’d like to share? Shoe recommendations?

      cool! but definitely don’t start with tomorrow’s WOD – it is something you really have to ease into so as not to get injured (ahem, drake) – my former post explains a little better and gives a couple of links which provide more info (for free)

    Any comfortable shoe without a cushioned heel will do. I run often in Chuck Taylors, because that’s what I wear most of the time anyway. Most good shoe companies make a racing flat, but the big stores often don’t sell them, so you may have to order. Innov8 makes lightweight running shoes without a big heel, but athletes with wide feet may find them to be narrow. Vibram five fingers are a good way to go, and especially now that the weather may be warming up, barefoot running is IN.
